Urban Decay Naked Basics Review

I got this pallet at Christmas and it was my first naked pallet from urban decay. I chose not to purchase the previous pallets because I'm not a huge fan of shimmer and thought it would just be a waste to buy a pallet with a majority of shimmery colours. So if you're the same as me and prefer matte colours, the naked basics pallets is the one for you. It has six shade ( one shimmer ) from a skin tone to the blackest black.

I was surprisingly happy that there was one shimmer shade for a highlight. Every shade is extremely pigmented especially faint! The only colour I had trouble with is foxy. It seems as it has a layer or two of colour which no pigment which comes off . Although my sister has the same pallet and her pallet is perfect so I must have gotten a faulty colour. I can skratch the product off which then comes off pigmented.

Overall I'm very happy with the pallet, the pallet itself has a soft smooth sturdy feel and it also comes with a very large clear mirror which is very handy. You can create intense smokey eye looks or very simple natural looks and I find myself reaching for this pallet everytime I do my makeup.

Fake tan or sunbeds?

Which is betetr fake tan or sunbeds? Many people have different views on this topic, the chemicals in fake tan are not ideal for youre skin but the UV rays in sunbeds are also not and in my view are worse. I personally do not tan whatsoever so I think if I went to the sunbeds I would just burn so that is why I prefer fake tanning. Also using sunbeds is known to be cancer causing especially if you have moles on your body. Some say they do not want the 'orange' colour that is associated with fake tan but there is so much variety of fake tanning brands to choose from. One on my favourite natural looking tan brand is Sally Handsen which comes in a lot of different colours and are very natural and can give youre skin a healthy glow instantly!
Some facts about sunbeds: 1:People who are frequently exposed to UV rays before 25 years of age are at greater risk of developing skin cancer later in life. 2:Sunbeds are estimated to cause around 100 deaths from melanoma every year in the UK. 3:Sunbeds also cause premature skin ageing, which means that your skin becomes coarse, leathery and wrinkled at a younger age. So when the tan fades, the damage remains.

My favourite expensive tans

I have tried only three or four tans that that I would class as higher end tans. But my most loved tan is 'Tan Organic'. It comes in a liquid form and you have to shake the glass bottle for it to come out. Some of the Tan Organic bottles come with a spray pump which i find a lot easier as you can spray it right onto your body with no waste. It takes around eight hours for the colour to fully come up and is slightly sticky for some time. The colour was so much better then I had expected, it was a deep golden colour after around two and a half coats. When I thought of any organic tan I had always thought the colour would be a light bronze shade so I was extremly happy with the colour pay off I got with this tan. It has a very long wearing coat and will last a good four days without fading so after around a week I would add another coat just to top the colour up. The bottle is made out of glass because platic bottle have been known to release cancer-causing toxins into the bottle, making the tan more organic. Not to meanson the tan is 'The World’s First Eco-Certified Self Tanning Brand'.

My favourite 'cheap' tans

I have tried many different tans and I have learned that what you get what you pay for. On the cheaper scale I like 'Rimmel Instant Tan' in the gel form. It dries quickly and gives an 'instant tan' but the only thing that disappoints me is the colour, it has a red undertone which I do not like as I prefer a more of a yellow undertown. Even though it says water resistant it will come off in the shower so I think it is only a one night tan, but all in all it does give a good deep colour and is great for a quick glow for what you are paying for. Another tan on the cheaper side is 'Cocoa Brown'. It comes in a mouse form and the colour is one of the best that I have tired. It can give a medium glow with one layer but with two layers you will get a deep dark glow. What I like most about Cocoa Brown is the colour,it has a yellow undertone (which I think is very hard to find with cheaper tans). The only bad thing about this tan is the fading, it is horrible. After about 2-3 days of wear it begins to unevenly and very very blotchy fade off the skin, espically on the hands.

First fake tanning lotion

The first tanning lotion came onto the market in the 1960s, it was called 'Quick Tan' or 'QT'. It was an overnight tan so consumers would apply the lotion at night then it would develop overnight and be developed by the morning. The users soon got fed up with this particular tan due to its unattractive results like orange palms and streaking. Many people still associated these results with the modern day fake tan. In the 1980s, new fake tanning lotions were intoducted to the market giving a more nautral colour and better fading results. Also around this time people were becoming more awear of the damage that the alternative tanning option, (UV tanning) that was doing to their skin. Due to this more tanning lotions appeared in drugstores which had more competitive prices for the consumers.

Where it came from..

Today I am going to talk to you about how being tanned came to be considered attractive in society. In 1923 Coco Chanel (famous fashion designer) was on holiday in Cannes on a yacht and got a bit more tan then would be called normal back then. When she returned back in the spotlight with her golden bronzed
look, fad was born. Not long after Coco came back, an industy was born!

Tantastic

Hi my names is Heidi and this is my first blog about fake tan. I love fake tan and I believe I have a good idea on what people look for in tan. I have tried many many different types of tans and have found a couple that I think are very good products. I will briefly talk about where it originated from and what tans I consider to be worth the money. Enjoy!
